Workshop for Actors Who Want to Direct

When: February, 2019
Where: Toronto, Ontario
Tickets: Application Process | No cost to attend, if chosen

We are looking for…

4 actors who are also directors or who would like to direct; to participate in the workshop as directors

10 actors who would like to participate in the workshop as performers

The Company Theatre believes that theatre is an actor’s medium. We’ve always put the exploration of the art of performance at the centre of our work. However this does not mean that we undervalue the crucial role of a director.

The goal of this workshop is to give emerging directors a chance to learn about Company Theatre’s method and philosophy, and provide them with the practical experience of incorporating them into their own directorial work while working with actors on scenes from contemporary plays.

The workshop will also involve elements of a think tank that will allow emerging director participants a chance to exchange ideas and explore their thoughts on the role of a director, the role of a performer and how best the two can collaborate to create impactful theatre.

The workshop will take place in Toronto, primarily during one week in February 2019 (exact dates TBD) with some prep work and meetings prior to the workshop week.

The workshop is of no cost to both the directors and actors.

If you are interested in applying, please send your resume and a short letter describing why you would like to participate to by December 14, 2018. Please state whether you are applying to be a director or actor participant or both.

Successful applicants will be contacted by email before the end of December.
